Meet Julie

— Owner & Designer

Julie Bergdall is one of the leading home design experts in Northern Indiana, with fifteen years of experience advising homeowners on design decisions in and around Goshen, Syracuse, Elkhart, Bristol and other local communities.

Julie is knowledgeable about and involved in every aspect of the home interior, from drawing plans to selecting harmonious finishes to overseeing the design and construction details.  She’s a kitchen and bath space planning specialist known for her attention to detail and her outstanding customer service.

“I strive to make the process less stressful for each client,” Julie says.  “I love that clients are so happy and confident with their finished spaces after working together.”

Julie launched Red Door Design in 2007, and has built a reputation as the go-to resource for anyone needing help with their space.  She doesn’t consider any need too small. Julie’s clients include local business owners, lawyers, professors, stay-at-home moms, educators, college students, and doctors. Everyone deserves a beautiful home, and Julie is passionate about offering the same level of service and design assistance to any and all who ask.

In her free time she partners with her husband to restore the occasional run-down property in Goshen to the highest level of quality and integrity so it can be proudly owned by a local family for another generation.

As the only local designer with degrees in education and art, Julie offers a unique approach to design that focuses on providing every client with a sense of empowerment and confidence.  Clients don’t just hear ‘what’ to do – they also hear ‘why’ and ‘how’.  Julie received her bachelor’s degrees in art and education from Huntington University and went on to obtain her masters in education.  Her background in art provides a strong foundation for advising on color, scale, space, and balance.  Project management skills, leadership skills, and organizational skills were honed during her time as an educator, and this same  background in education informs her continual desire to share her knowledge of design with each client: from honoring old architecture while bringing in modern sensibilities, to the latest trends, to the features of home that stand the test of time.
